PLAYLIST: October 2016

As the summer of 2016 comes to a close, and the leaves begin to fall, we now find ourselves well into October. To celebrate the period of Halloween raves, pumpkin-carving and deep dark autumnal clubbing, we’ve compiled a list of 10 huge tracks you need to hear this month!

1. Redlight – New Flows

This track from the original Lobster Boy was premiered last week on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. It borrows the sugar-coated voice that features in ‘9TS Baby’ to a make a catchy dance tune. You’ll find yourself singing along to this one…

2. FSOL – Papua New Guinea (Shadow Child VIP Exclusive)

Earlier this month London producer Shadow Child teased the release of his debut album ‘Connected’ featuring the likes of Bodhi, T Williams, Huxley, Ben Pearce, S.P.Y, Ashworth and Supertanker. This remix of The Future Sound Of London is one of our favourites.

3.Charles Ramirez, Luca M & JUST2 – Up & Down

‘Up & Down’ was massive among the Ibiza dancefloors this summer, reaching number 2 in Resident Advisor DJ Chart. A real spiraling floor-thumper.

4. Jack Master ‘Bang The Box’ (Slam Remix)

The original track comes from German producer Richie Hawkins AKA Jack Master (not to be confused with Glasgow’s Jackmaster), who is now known as Plastikman. 25 years later, ‘Bang The Box’ gets a remix from Scottish duo Slam and a premiere from Mixmag. It bangs.

5. Swindle – Lemon Trees ft. D Double E

‘Lemon Trees’ comes from Swindle’s ‘Funk and Grime’ EP which was inspired by his travels around the world. This track features D Double E and is out now via Butterz.

6. B.Traits – Still Point

Taken from her new ‘Still Point’ EP, this track is BBC Radio 1 DJ B.Traits’ first release in 4 years. She had been playing the tracks exclusively in her DJ sets even before they had names and recently celebrated the launch of her new label ‘In Toto’ with Alan Fitzpatrick. We’re excited about the new sound and can’t wait to hear more!

7. Green Velvet – Flash (Eats Everything remix)

This is one for your Halloween playlists… Green Velvet’s ‘Flash’ has undergone a rework from Bristolian DJ Eats Everything. It combines a creepy monologue with a loud thumping fog-horn style drop. Scarily good.

8. Kölsch – Grey

Kölsch AKA Rune Reilly is a producer from Denmark who always nails the ‘sunrise’ track with his stunning melodic techno. ‘Grey’ is no different, complete with uplifting brass sounds and harmonious piano playing. If you start your day listening to this track, you can’t but be triumphant.

9. Sir Spyro – Topper Top (feat. Teddy Bruckshot, Lady Chann & Killa P)

Rinse FM’s Sir Spyro, the producer behind grime tracks ‘Side By Side’ and his remix of ‘Rhythm & Gash’, has done it again with a huge new track. ‘Topper Top’ is a notified banger, and the icing on the cake is dancehall artist Lady Chann’s verse over the top. Pure fire.

10. Kanye West Vs Mr Fingers – Fade (Gotsome Edit)

Number 10 comes from Bristol’s Gotsome who have remixed Mr West’s ‘Fade’ featuring Mr Fingers. With added emphasis on the bassline, Gotsome have made this track into an unforgettable, irresistible bouncy house track.
